Who can come to the JRC program?
Anyone over the age of 18 can attend. Child care is provided for children up to 5 years of age upon approval by Program Director.
Do you have to be a Christian to attend the classes?
No, absolutely not. Christian principles and sometimes Christian scriptures will be used in JRC classes and mentoring.
When and where are the classes held?
Each training session will be held on Wednesday and/or Thursday from 9:00 – 3:30 PM at the Sycamore Tree UMC, located at 1830 Clydesdale Street, Maryville, TN. STUMC is located approximately 1 ½ miles west of Foothills Mall off Highway 321.
What is a Coach or Mentor?
A mentor is a friend to the participant who helps her set goals and be accountable for them. A mentor encourages and prays for her mentee (participant). A coach helps a participant in the areas of job search, money management or other specific needs.
How long is the program?
The program length is an average of one year for most participants. Additional length of time is determined one-on-one and by the participants’ goals and her success and progress in meeting those goals.
How much does the program cost?
The program cost $1,500 annually per woman. Each woman seeking self-sufficiency is given a scholarship to attend. JRC depends on donations from individuals who want to make a difference, small grants, fund-raising and corporate sponsors to pay for these scholarships.
How do I refer someone to the program?
Ask her to call JRC at 865.380.5370 to set up an appointment and interview.
How can I help your organization?
You can help in a number of different ways: volunteering, prayer, providing goods, hosting a graduation or celebration, and of course donations. For more information on these, please visit our donations page.
If I make a donation, how will the money be used?
All donations go directly to support the program: supplies, curriculum, computer lab, communications, phones, website, fees, facility, insurance, volunteer and staff training and salaries for staff.
