Seeds that bloom!
A previous client who had exited our program on 9/30/10 due to no child care for her children, called JRC to say that she had gone to the Knoxville GED testing site and had taken her GED test today (2/16/11). She had taken her GED pre-test with our class while she was our client.
The client praised JRC for having inspired and encouraged her while she was here to obtain her GED and further her education, because it was evident the potential for success was in her!
This is yet another success story of how seeds are planted through JRC, thus lives are being changed! Kathy, Program Director, Maryville New Beginnings Site.
Vonda’s dream…..
Vonda took a step forward when she learned she could be tutored and encouraged in a safe group of women AND earn her GED. Only five short months later………….Vonda scored the highest out of 30 other people testing that day! Her daughter graduated that May from High School as she graduated from JRC with her GED! Life has changed so much for Vonda.
She now works for a company making more money and is attending the University of Phoenix to become an Adult Education Teacher! She wants to help other women accomplish their dream as she has and is accomplishing hers! It’s never too late to dream!
Call the Joshua Resource Center if you want to make a DIFFERENCE in the lives of women or to refer a woman to JRC. 380.5370 for Maryville or 314.1245 for Knoxville.
It’s never too late to dream!
As Vonda served lunch to Rhonda and her family she asked “what do you do for a living?” Rhonda told her that she was an instructor to help women earn their GED (General Equivalency Diploma). Vonda had dropped out of high school and had thought many times about earning her GED. She found it more difficult to encourage her children to be diligent with their education when she had failed to do the same.
Rhonda encouraged her to come to the Joshua Resource Center………….Vonda thought it was too late in her life to do that and declined………….
It’s never too late to dream!
Vonda is a single Mom with two teenage children. She has been a waitress at the local TGI Friday for years. While serving lunch to a woman she had waited on for a couple of years – she learned something that was about to change her life forever. to be cont’d.
