If you have thought about how you can make a BIG differnece in the lives of other women and their children – consider the Joshua Resource Center.
Our first training/informational session for 2011 will be help on Thursday, January 6th, 6:00 PM. Call 314-1245 for more information.
What season of life are you in?
Fall leaves covered with a dusting of snow! As I headed to the Smoky Mountains for a hike in November this year, I was amazed at the beauty of this tree covered in Fall leaves with hints of the first snow on it. That’s how our lives are at times…one season merging into another. Some season’s of our lives are extrememly happy and productive, all is well in our world. Other season’s are difficult, painful or even devasting as circumstances surround us and we find ourselves in a season that we want no part of.
The season’s of our lives can serve to create a beautiful picture, a reflection of encouragement and help to others. For some, a painful season of life can cause them to become stuck – not able to move past that time.
The Joshua Resource Center is helping women who are stuck in the past or in current circumstances that require others to encourage them, lead them, and provide training and mentoring that will take their hand and help them into the next season of life! The season that is waiting just around the corner….one that brings new hope, joy and restoration.
In 2011, we believe there are more women and their children that need our help than ever before. And we need your help. If you would like to become a mentor, instructor or help in other ways, e-mail us at info@JoshuaResourceCenter.com. May 2011 be the best season of your life!

The Twelve Days Of Christmas cont’d
The secret message of The Twelve Days of Christmas cont’d.
The seven swans a-swimming represents the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit; prophecy, serving, teaching, exhortation, giving, leadership and mercy.
Eight maids a-milking are the eight beatitudes.
Nine ladies dancing are the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Ten lords a-leaping are the ten commandments.
Eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
Twelve drummers drumming symbolizes the twelve points of belief in the Apostles’ Creed.
A little history for today! Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Message
A song that all of us know and some love is The Twelve Days of Christmas….
Did you know that it represented a secret message? According to an article I recently read, the meaning is as follows;
The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
The two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
Three french hens stood for faith, hope and love.
The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John.
The five golden rings recalled the Torah of Law, or the first five books of the Old Testament.
The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
Part two will include the seven swans a-swimming thru the twelve drummers! Enjoy and Merry Christmas!!

Balancing Your Life-JRC Ladies Learn About Time Management
It doesn’t matter if you’re a mentor, a teacher or a student in this program. Everyone needs a balanced life. Too many times we don’t know we are not in balance until our lives are way out of control. Then we wonder how we got that way and try to get back to a manageable lifestyle.
Time management is a key in obtaining a balanced life, preventing over load and helping us to focus on priorities. The mothers in the class appreciated the idea that they could have time for themselves even with the full time job of being a mother. It is all in making ‘time’ your friend and not your enemy. So the next ‘time’ that you find yourself saying that you don’t have the ‘time’ and that you’re too busy, maybe it is ‘time’ to take a look at your ‘time’ management skills.
My Dream Home-It Can Happen
One of the most wonderful experiences in life is walking into a house and realizing that it is yours.
This week we took our ladies on a tour of FCD Housing. The reason is to show the options that are available. Kelly Spears told the ladies that this dream is not impossible. You just have to want and work for it.
On our way back from the tour, one of our ladies told us that no matter what, she and her son would be living in a house that they owned. She said that seeing the houses, made her want to strive even harder to accomplish her dream. She is so determined that she started visualizing the furniture that she would have and the color of the drapes. Now that is seeing your dream and going for it.

March 31- Becoming Healthy and Motivated
Did you know that a healthy body means a healthy mind? Our speaker today emphasized the importance of taking care of your health.
Sometimes we ladies are so busy taking care of everyone and everything on this planet, that we forget to take care of the one very important person-us. Many of us have been taught to be the nurturers and the responsible ones. That is all fine, but the strange thing is, while we are balancing the family and making sure they are all healthy and happy, we can become off balanced and jeopardize our health.
Imagine now you’re in an abusive situation and told that you are not worth anything. Why would you want to take care of yourself when it just seems pointless? Or, you live in such chaos that it is a matter of daily survival and your overall health is not the top priority.
As the weeks have progressed, we are seeing that the ladies are feeling that they are worthy and therefore they want to take care of themselves.
That is the great thing about JRC; if the ladies stick with it, the rewards are a freedom to live a happier and healthier life for themselves and their families.
March 24- Featuring People Who Have Overcome
Yes, there can be bright futures for those who were abused in their childhood. It has been said that you are doomed to repeat the mistakes of your parents and continue the furious cycle . If your parents were in an abusive situation, than it would be more likely that you would end up in an abusive situation too. But, with the help of our Savior, we can break free from those patterns and choose a better life.
That was the message from one of our graduates of Joshua Resource Center. “You can choose to have control over your thoughts and feelings” said our speaker. After sharing her story and the various millstones in her spiritual journey, Sue Duchow, inspired the ladies to take charge of their destinies.
We are so excited to see our graduates of the program come back and share how they have grown after JRC. It is amazing to hear the successes that they have gone on to achieve.
